Crafted of Maple Veneers, the piece is finished in Haint Blue, a soft color which can be found on the ceilings of porches and entryways, window shutters and doors brought to the American South more than 200 years ago from the Gullah folklore to keep "haints" or spirits from entering homes and dwellings.
