The design is sandblasted in STAGES, one small segment at a time. The artist sculpts and cuts, deep into the glass at varying depths, creating a relief texture in the glass. The carved edges will pick up surrounding light, illuminate, and become a 3 dimensional object free-floating in the glass. Some segments or elements in the design feature a gluechip texture. Gluechip is a beautiful, sparkling texture that creates obscurity in the glass. Objects behind the glass become blurred when 10-12" away from the glass. This effect is considered semi-private, as the design elements are all surrounded by a clear pinstripe. Objects can be seen when held right up against the glass, and if you approach the glass and peer thru, you can see thru the clear pinstripes.
