When engaged, the sliding door foot bolt cannot be jimmied from the outside.
To lock, simply press the black tipped deadbolt straight down with your foot or shoe.

Another use: Use the foot deadbolt to securely vent your sliding door. Have access to fresh air without compromising your home security. How? Drill an additional strike hole on the bottom door sill, not more than 1 inch behind the strike hole used when the door is closed and locked. To securely vent, open the sliding door until the bolt can enter the second strike hole then press the deadbolt down. Your sliding door is now vented and entry is minimized to 1 inch.
