Nothing screams American history like the Circus Train. The first ones came on the scene in the 1870s and it quickly became the difference between going to a show and having a real circus come to your town. Unfortunately the last circus train just recently pulled off the tracks for the final time, leaving a real hole in our American fabric. At one time a circus train would carry as many as 1600 people, performers and crew alike, with hundreds of animals and oddities as it made its way from town to town. Nothing matched the excitement of seeing the wildly multi colored train roll into your town, especially before the time of TV and even telephones or electricity in many cases. The Circus tradition is ingrained in the collective memories of generations of Americans.
