Cumaru is very dense and is popular wood for flooring and high end furniture, as it does not easily dent or scratch and has vibrant, warm golden colors. The Oro board is named after the Portugese word for gold, ouro. In the kitchen, cumaru is also a great addition as the wood is highly resistant to warping, is easy to maintain and looks fantastic. It is known as Brazilian teak because it looks similar to asian teak (not the same species) with golden hues and brown tones, though Brazilian teak will actually luminesce under special lighting.
